I’m back home in Pierre, South Dakota!

Upon my return to my home QTH in Pierre, SD last weekend, I was greeted with a mountain of chores that requires my urgent attention. Having spent the past several months visiting my brother and sister down in Alabama since October of 2022, it's definitely great to be back home. Now that I'm back, I can focus on tackling all the tasks at hand and getting things done so I can continue working on my blog and YouTube videos.

My Icom 7610 is on its way to a shop in Michigan for some TLC. The LCD needs replacing and there was a little issue with the ethernet when using it remotely with RS-BA1 V2 software. Other than that, this bad boy has been an awesome addition to my home station. I'm a big fan of using it for CW and digital modes, but what really gets me excited is the dual watch and diversity reception capability when using SSB.

Upcoming

A new radio (Elecraft K3S) will be in the shack and I'll be updating some videos using the latest software. I think it would be good to go over the topic: How to upload to LOTW, eQSL and ClubLog (to name a few) right from the logging program. What do you think?

Thank you

Sorry to hear about issues with your 7610. A screen failure is understandable, but the ethernet issue is bothersome. I have also experienced issues with the the RS-BA1 V2 software over the internet. It will be interesting to see what Icom has to say about the issue. Firmware update? 73 Jim

You note in a more recent post that the issue is the 7610 losing its IP. This is exactly what I am experiencing. Yes, it takes removing power from the 7610 to get the IP back. I’m still thinking firmware. So even more interested in what Icom finds and the fix.

Rich. My experience was that I tested before hitting the road. All was good. Once on the road it failed. Suspect the tech did not test going through a port forward modem from outside his local network. A modem setting? We snowbird to Tucson, so if I don’t find a solution before next season, I will be adding a Wemo internet power outlet to the AC side of the station power supply so I can remotely power cycle.
