Camping and Ham Radio Operating at Prairie Creek Campground

So on the way back to Pierre, SD I took the opportunity to stop and camp a little in Arkansas. See my previous post, Spadra Campground: A Serene Ham Radio Operators Retreat on the Shores of Lake Dardanelle. I can also make a few contacts while I am at it, HIHI.

Camping provides an excellent opportunity to disconnect from the stresses of everyday life and find peace in nature. For those who also enjoy ham radio operating, Prairie Creek Campground in Rogers, Arkansas is the perfect destination. Here, outdoor enthusiasts can experience the best of both worlds by combining their love for camping with ham radio communication.

Situated amidst the breathtaking landscapes of the region, this campground combines the tranquility of the great outdoors with an ideal location and surroundings for amateur radio communication.

If you're looking for a peaceful escape from city life and want to reconnect with nature, then Prairie Creek Campground is the perfect destination for you. Its serene atmosphere offers a tranquil experience that will leave you feeling rejuvenated and refreshed.

Amenities Designed for Comfort and Convenience

Prairie Creek Campground prioritizes the comfort and convenience of its visitors, offering a range of amenities to enhance their camping experience. Campers will find spacious and well-maintained campsites equipped with fire rings, picnic tables, and ample space for RVs or tents. The campground also provides clean restroom facilities and convenient access to potable water, ensuring that visitors can focus on their outdoor adventures without worrying about basic necessities.

Cellular service is excellent. On ATT I get 3 to 4 bars of 5G. Excellent for streaming and uploading pictures and QSOs. You can see my live logbook at  K0PIR.Live.

Exploring the World of Portable Ham Radio Operating

One of the standout features of Prairie Creek Campground is its compatibility with ham radio operations. With its favorable location, free from the urban noise and interference, campers have the opportunity to set up their radio equipment and enjoy a little portable ham radio operating. My favorite mode these days is FT8. You don't need much to make a dozen or so contacts in this easy mode. In the early morning you can find me on 3.973 MHz LSB for the Breakfast Club net.

Conclusion

Prairie Creek Campground in Rogers, Arkansas, presents a unique camping experience near the waters edge. Get there after Memorial Day and use the Recreation.gov website to reserve your spot. I like it because it's quiet, has plenty of trees for shade and antennas and it's also very affordable. $26/night or with a Golden Access Pas only $13/night. Prairie Creek Campground promises an unforgettable journey where nature and communication intertwine harmoniously.
