Icom 7610 No Fill Spectrum Scope – Waterfall Improvements

Upon returning home and beginning to use my Icom 7610, I realized I had significantly altered the spectrum scope settings, resulting in an unfavorable appearance compared to my previous settings. I have an existing post and video that explains some of the features. I plan to release a new video soon that showcases my revised settings.

Improvements on Icom 7610 Spectrum Scope - No Fill and Waterfall

These enhancements are not just visually appealing but are also beneficial on CW. Usually, I set the REF Level on my Scope at +/- 0.0dB. I prefer utilizing the SCROLL-C setting with a SPAN of either 25k or 50k.

I like using the incremental ATT to knock down the noise floor and then maybe a minor adjustment to the RF GAIN.

I enjoy employing the incremental Automatic Threshold Tuning (ATT) feature to reduce the noise floor, which refers to the measure of the signal created from the sum of all the noise sources and unwanted signals within a measurement system. By doing this, it helps in enhancing the clarity of the desired signals.

After adjusting the noise floor with ATT, I may also make a slight adjustment to the Radio Frequency (RF) GAIN. The RF GAIN is a control that allows you to optimize the receiver's sensitivity to a signal. By making a minor adjustment to this, I can further fine-tune the reception quality of the signal. Essentially, the purpose of these adjustments is to improve the overall reception and audibility of the desired signals.

I never use the P.AMP on the 7610 unless I am trying to pull out a weak CW station on 6,10,12,15 Meters.
