Anytone 578 APRS Settings for RVing
Anytone Software - APRS Settings
I have two programs to use. One is the program that came with the Anytone radio and the other is RT Systems.
Not long ago after I purchased the radio I contacted RT Systems and they did not have a software application for it and if I remember right, they said they weren't planning one. Bummer! I was so disappointed.
Chirp didn't work with it either.
Hallelujah! I found out the other day RT Systems has a software app for the AnyTone D578. It's incredibly easy to upload repeater frequencies now.
I can set the APRS up in either application.
Important (Do not miss this)
Use an appropriate SSID or Symbol. Do not use another just because it looks cool. Using a fire truck will invariably cause problems.
I use a truck instead if the RV symbol. My truck has the APRS mobile VHF/UHF radio in it and it pulls my camper. If I had a class C, A, B or truck camper I’d use the RV symbol.
One very important setting is to have the APRS Tx Tone set to "off." I don't like hearing that annoying Tx tone. It is loud and there is no way to turn down the volume. Having it on is okay for when I'm testing, but when traveling it is "off."

Note the TOCALL. For my radio, Anytone AT-D578UV III Pro, I use APAT51. If you have the Anytone 878 you will want to use APAT81.
