Icom 7300 WSJT-X Using DXLab Suite Commander, JT Bridge And RUMLogNG
DXLab Commander isn't actually installed on the Mac, but that setting is used in WSJT-X by RUMLogNG. This was a little confusing to me at first.
As it would play out I got it working, and as quickly as it was working it stopped. I was testing it and could not get the connection going again. I was opening it like I do on my PC. On my PC, I open Ham Radio Deluxe and HRDLogbook, then I opened WSJT-X and finally JT-Alert. That's the sequence for the PC. There's also a way to automatically open WSJT-X with JT-Alert, but I won't go there now.
That's the sequence I was trying on the iMac. It does not work for me on the iMac. The best sequence is to open JT Bridge first, then open WSJT-X. WSJT-X will open RUMLogNG automatically. It's genius!
I still have trouble every now and then with WSJT-X using DXLab Suite Commander if I don't open it right. Sometimes when I go to WSJT-X and look under preferences, I'll test the CAT connection and it doesn't light up as green. The solution: Close those programs and then open it up with JT Bridge first, then WSJT-X and RUMLogNG opens automatically.
So here's the setup and demo, WSJT-X Using DX Lab Suite Commander for rig:
I have made a number of QSO's and really enjoy using WSJT-X, JT-Bridge and RUMLogNG. If you have a better way or suggestion, please let me know. I'm always happy to hear from fellow hams. Please comment below. Best 73 and good DX. - Rich, K0PIR

I am unable to make wsjt-x “talk” to my icom 7300. i have the full dxlab suite perfectly working, and i thought i would add the thrill of jt, but to no prevail.
i have only a windows 7 dual screen pc. and i wish i could make it hand shake with the rig and the wsjt-x.
i also was unable to make the radio ic7300 drive the icom ic2kl and its tuner automatically. i made the connection through the 13 pin connector as shown in the manual but the volatge levels to choose the frequencies are confusing the amplifier. any ideas?
many thanks

Hi Ghassan,
Wow that’s a good question and I have no idea about the amp. Try the YaHoo groups “Icom 7300” and I’ll bet one of those guys have done that and will know.
DXLab and WSJT-X was very tricky. It took me some time and it just finally worked. Take another look at it and maybe you’ll see something you missed. Thanks for commenting, best 73! – Rich, K0PIR
Hello,
I was wondering if you have posted your exact settings anywhere? Saying it was tricky without saying how you solved it is unkind.

Hi Nathan,
Nice to hear from you. I know it can be tough finding everything. What settings do you need?
There are 3 pages to the above article and the last page (pg3) has a video.
The prior article is here: MacloggerDX WSJT-X And JT-Bridge How To
The video in this article shows the radio settings: Ham Radio iMac (iCOM Macintosh) In The Shack
See everything I have written on the iMac and software here.
I hope this helps.

Hi Rich. Many, many thanks for this and all your instructional videos. I have spent several months trying to get WSJT-X, JT-Bridge and Rumlog working together. Following the instructions in your video my set up now works great!
You’re a generous man Rich. I genuinely appreciate the time effort you put into creating this blog. Cheers.
Hi Bernard,
Nice to hear from you and thank you for commenting. It’s always nice to hear that people get it working. I hope to hear you on the air, best 73! – Rich, K0PIR
Hi Rich
I have just watched your RumLog/WSJT-X integration video on YouTube. I have everything working perfectly but do miss the extra information that JT Bridge gives e.g. LoTW and eQSL status of potential contacts. Do you miss this information or is it available elsewhere? Thanks.
Hi Bernard,
Nice to hear from you and the short answer is yes. I like having at least the name and QTH in there. For the name I just add it when the Log QSO prompt comes up. Thomas said this is not meant to be a replacement for JT Bridge. It does work nice and maybe more can be added at a later date. Nice to hear you have it working. The latest version of WSJT-X was difficult for me, but it is okay now. Thanks for watching and hope to hear you on. Best 73 – Rich, K0PIR
Hi Rich
That’s great. It’s interesting to compare notes especially as there is so much to think about in these ‘digital’ days! Thanks again for the really useful videos.
Hope we can make contact on the air sometime soon. Best 73. Bernard.
Hey, Rich! I recently had to reset my computer and lost all my settings. I got mostly everything working but have one issue.
When I use JT Bridge, it takes away the Network connection to Rumlog from WSJTX. As a result, my logging fails and I am not able to view folks I QSO with on WSJTX just from starting up the QSO over WSJTx or JT Bridge. Do you have a good resource to correct this issue?
Hi Eric,
I am not sure, but I will look when I have a chance.
Best place to ask is probably on Tom’s website or RUMLogNG on FB.
